World Milk Day 2018

This year’s World Milk Day on 1 June will ask everyone to raise a glass to milk. Last year was an incredible success taking place over 42 hours around the world with 588 events in 80 countries!

Last year in the UK, the key focus was around the launch of The Dairy Council's Milk Manifesto which promoted the strong science behind the nutritional value of milk and dairy products.

The Milk Manifesto, a document of evidence signed by 12 notable nutritional scientists in the UK and used a series of infographics to reflect the key messages about milk, nutrition and health. These include messages on the nutrients in milk: protein, iodine, calcium and B vitamins, and their benefits for all children, teenagers and adults. They also include messages on some of the most topical research on milk and health, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, ageing of muscle and bone, and also sport nutrition..

Open Farm Sunday

Open Farm Sunday 2018

This year’s LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) Open Farm Sunday is on 10 June.

Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 1600 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed 2 million people onto their farm for one Sunday each year.

Last year across Britain over 350 farms welcomed people through their farm gates to discover the world of farming. Feedback from visitors, farmers, their helpers and sponsors has been very positive, demonstrating once again the value of farming’s annual open day.
